Grant McCann says the focus of the Rovers squad is to build on their two previous performances as they prepare to welcome Swindon Town this weekend.
Rovers turned in excellent showings against both MK Dons and Premier League side Everton and were very unfortunate to emerge with defeats.
But as they seek their first league win of the campaign, the Rovers boss says the group have all the encouragement they need from what they have produced over the past week.
“We just want to put the same performance on and build on the two performances we’ve shown in the last two games and go and enjoy the game,” McCann said.
“We know they’ve started the season quite well but we’re at home and we want to put in the performances we showed on Wednesday and Saturday and see where it takes us.
“We think about the next performance. How can we go and put in a similar sort of performance from Everton and MK Dons and do it again against Swindon and get a positive result.
“But first and foremost we have to get ready for the game.”
Assessing the first month of the season, McCann feels the understanding of the players has developed.
“Everything takes time, I’ve said it many times,” he said. “It takes time for players to understand each other, their traits, how we want to play. It all takes time.
“Our principles will never change and haven’t changed in all the years I’ve been a manager in terms of how I want to work.
“But it does take time for the players to understand. That’s where we’re at after the first month of the season and we feel we’ve turned a corner a little bit in terms of our performances.”
Visitors Swindon are unbeaten so far this term and will provide a tough test this weekend but McCann insists his primary focus over the last few days has been his own side.
“They can score goals,” he said. “We’ve seen a lot of their games.
“But we’re really focused on us. We’ve seen their games and know lots about them but we want to keep the focus on us and make sure we perform.”
