Adelakun says squad are keeping each other focused on the task ahead

10 April 2024

Hakeeb Adelakun says the Rovers squad are keeping each other in check as they seek to maintain their impressive run of form.

Adelakun scored the second in Rovers’ 2-1 win over Walsall - a seventh consecutive win in a run of one defeat in 14 matches.

It has powered them up the table into the top half but the winger insists there is only a determination to focus on the next game rather than where more wins could take them.

And staying focused is a collective effort for the group, according to Adelakun.

He said: “Everyone is enjoying the run but we just have to take each game as it comes.

“We’re moving in the right direction at a good pace but we’re not getting too far ahead of ourselves.

“We’re all in every day, working hard and keeping each other on it. We just have to keep doing that and see where it takes us.

“The main thing is sticking together as a group, getting the best out of each other, keeping close knit, pushing each other and seeing where it takes us.

“That is how we’ve got on this run now so I don’t think we need to change anything.”

Adelakun praised Jamie Sterry for the impressive assist for his goal and revealed it was a move the pair have been working on.

He said: “It’s something he’s been talking to me about and I know he’s got it in his locker.

“He told me a few times in the game to be ready for it. He had the space to step into at that time and he’s sent a great ball over for me.

“Then it’s just up to me to bring it down and finish it off. It’s for me to make the run in behind, which both me and Luke Molyneux do in training.

“I needed to get it under control but it bounced a bit high and I think that’s my first header.”
