Joe Ironside insists Rovers never knew they were beaten as they produced a stunning fight back to see off Barrow in a ninth consecutive league win.
Rovers were two goals down when Ironside netted a penalty on 58 minutes to reduce the deficit and set the stage for a remarkable comeback.
Hakeeb Adelakun and Harrison Biggins turned the game on its head in a three minute spell just before 90 minutes were up with Ironside scoring again deep into added time to round off a thrilling afternoon.
“We knew what we had to do in the second half and we just went for it,” Ironside said. “Our hard work and endeavour paid off and we’re delighted to come away with the win.
“The gaffer wanted us to be more positive. In the first half when we got in behind them or in the pockets, we didn’t penetrate enough and maybe passed back too much.
“So in the second half it was about letting the shackles off and just going to play. We got the ball forward quicker and credit to the subs that came on because I thought they were brilliant.
“We got the chances and just took them. There’s 90 minutes in a football match. Although we were 2-0 down we know we’ve got the quality to get back in the game. It was keeping doing what we’ve been doing, keep believing and we’ve come away with the win.”
The run of nine consecutive wins has taken Rovers to eighth place in the division - outside the top seven on goal difference alone.
But Ironside insists none of that has been given much thought by the squad, with the focus now firmly on the trip to Colchester United in midweek.
He said: “It’s class to be a part of but there’s not too much emphasis on the run itself.
“We’re just playing good football. Can we go into the next game and win it?
“That’s what the approach has been.”
