Joe Ironside may be desperate to score in every game but his primary focus is being a strong team player.
Ironside netted his 19th goal of the season - and 15th in the league - as Rovers beat Walsall in midweek to extend their run to seven consecutive victories.
While he admitted to feeling a responsibility to contribute in front of goal, the striker said fulfilling his overall role in the team is most important.
“As the focal point, you have to feel that responsibility,” he said. “All strikers get judged on goals and whatever else you can bring can bring to the team.
“It’s just about making sure I’m a good team player and I’m in the right position to score goals.
“You can always improve.
“I’ve just taken it game by game, made sure I’m in the right positions and hopefully get some opportunities and put them away.
“It’s the same script throughout the season.
“It can be frustrating not scoring because I want to score in every game. You just have to keep the faith, keep making sure you’re in the right positions.
“The other night, Mols put a great ball across and happily it went in.”
Rovers host Accrington Stanley in their penultimate home game of the campaign and Ironside is expecting another tough test.
“They’re a good footballing side,” he said. “All teams in the division present their own challenges.
“We’ve just got to make sure apply ourselves correctly, hopefully have another good performance and see where it leaves us.”
