Grant McCann heaped praise on Jamie Sterry for his recent form and his brilliant assist in the win over Walsall in particular.
Sterry delivered a stunning diagonal ball to find Hakeeb Adelakun inside the box from his own half, with Rovers doubling their advantage on the way to a seventh straight victory.
It capped an excellent individual performance from Sterry, who has produced a string of excellent performances as part of the side’s brilliant run.
“It’s a tremendous pass from Jamie Sterry and he’s got that in his locker,” McCann said.
“He is in top form at the minute, Jamie. He’s really fit now after a really frustrating first half of the season.
“If you asked Jamie, I’m sure he wouldn’t want the season to finish because he missed the whole of the first half.
“You saw his performance. He’s a top player - just how well he defends first and foremost, by getting his body in front of people.
“He was playing against a good player in Liam Gordon but some of his play and his passing and his calmness was excellent.
“And the pass for the goal just topped off another really good performance from him.”
