McCann delighted with supporter backing in Wrexham triumph

3 April 2024

Grant McCann was delighted to see Rovers supporters answering his call for a strong backing for the victory over Wrexham.

The game brought the highest home attendance of the season at the Eco-Power Stadium, with those present witnessing a 1-0 win and a fifth straight triumph for Rovers.

McCann had asked for supporters to come out in numbers following the win at Crawley Town on Good Friday and was pleased to see the stands packed.

“It was a good performance, a good win and there was a lot of fans here,” McCann said.

“I asked the fans to come out after the Crawley win and boy did they come. The atmosphere was tremendous.

“Hopefully they can see a team that is working incredibly hard for this football club. A team that is playing good football, that wants to attack and get after people.

“I’m happy that we could send them home happy.”

While a top seven finish remains a mathematical possibility for Rovers, McCann says the goal for his side remains being the best in the division over the 18-game mini-campaign he set last month.

“All I know is we set the players an 18 game table, we’ve played 12 of those games and we’re top of it,” McCann said. “We’re actually a couple of games behind some of the teams.

“So in those 12 games, we’ve been very good. We’ve got six games to go and we’ll see where we are.

“The next one for us is on Saturday and it’s another tough game against a team in form in Morecambe. They got a tremendous result themselves on Monday so it’s a tough game that we look forward to.”
