Molyneux says squad has never been so tight knit during his time at Rovers

7 April 2024

Luke Molyneux says his Rovers experience has gone to a whole new level in the last two months as the brilliant run of form rolls on.

Molyneux scored twice as Rovers won 3-0 at Morecambe to secure a sixth consecutive league win and stretch their overall run to one defeat in 13 matches.

While he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club since joining in the summer of 2022, Molyneux admits the last few months have been his best yet.

“It’s been brilliant, especially in the last few months,” he said. “It’s always been a brilliant changing room, the whole time I’ve been here but recently it’s been top drawer.

“The lads are all really close as a group. There’s no groups - everyone is so tight knit.

“It’s showing on the pitch. We’ve got that connection on the pitch and everything is clicking at the moment and it’s good to see.”

Molyneux says his relationships on the pitch with fellow north east natives Jamie Sterry and Owen Bailey have helped him thrive in recent weeks.

“Me and Stez have played with each other for years and we both know what each other like and don’t like,” he said.

“You just feel comfortable with someone like that behind you.

“With Bails, I’ve known him for a while but this is the first time that I’ve been able to play with him and he’s been brilliant this season.

“He’s all over the place on the pitch and he’s been top drawer.

“It’s just good to see and with all the stuff that we work on on the training pitch, it’s so good when it comes off.”
