Biamou ready to get back to his best with Rovers

28 February 2024

Rovers new boy Maxime Biamou is determined to get back to his best in the final few weeks of the campaign.

The striker has signed a short-term deal with the club, securing a return to competitive football after spending much of the last two years sidelined through injury.

Biamou previously was part of the Coventry City side that progressed from Sky Bet League Two to the Championship.

And he is confident that he can reach those levels of performance once again.

“I have been out for a bit less than two years because of an injury and it has been difficult for me because I was at the end of my contract,” he said.

“I have done my rehab in France and had my surgery in France. It is always hard when you don’t have a club to come back fit with.

“The manager gave me an opportunity to come and train. That’s what I’ve done and I’m happy to sign.

“I played a few times against the manager and he knows me and really loves me. He said for me to come, train and see what I can do.

“I am very happy to see that the manager can trust me. I have done my best during the training sessions and that is why I have signed.

“I have been very nervous because I haven’t played for a long time. It’s always good to get some minutes and I did okay in the game against Tranmere.

“I know I’m going to build it up and come back as strong as possible and be the same Max that I was a few years ago.”

As well as pursuing his own goals, Biamou is desperate to help Rovers continue their current positive run of form and finish the season strongly.

He said: “I played a season in League Two with Coventry and I know every game can be a battle.

“I just want to do my best. I can hold the ball, I can run behind the defenders. I think I am different to the other players here.

“They are my qualities and I just want to help the club as much as I can and I know that won’t be a problem.

“The group is living very well at the moment. I want to help keep the momentum and I am here to help. If they can keep this level, it will be a good end to the season.”
