Luke Molyneux remains convinced that Rovers can finish the season strongly.
Recent form for Rovers has been disappointing but forward Molyneux believes there have been enough examples this season to show the squad is capable of delivering a more positive run, particularly following the return to fitness of numerous players.
“It’s been tough,” Molyneux told the media ahead of the game against Tranmere Rovers. “We’re not anywhere near where we wanted to be at the start but we’ve still got enough quality in the team to get as high up the league as we can.
“At this moment in time, that’s our focus and we need to keep that focus on getting the results.
“Results wise, we haven’t been getting what we’d want. We know we can do better and we’ve shown that at different parts of the season.
“We just need to pick up some more wins and I think once we get that one win, we’ll be fine.
“It’s getting back to the basics and doing those things well. We need to keep creating chances and we know that we’ve got players who can put the ball in the back of the net.
“Joe Ironside has got a lot of goals for us this season and it’s down to other players like myself to contribute as well.”
On Saturday’s visitors Tranmere, Molyneux believes Rovers are in from a completely different test from the side they beat 2-1 at Prenton Park in October.
Tranmere have won eight of their last 14 matches to move away from danger in Sky Bet League Two.
“It’ll be a tough game,” Molyneux said. We’ve played them once already this season at their place and got a good result but it’s a different point of the season now and it’s going to be a lot different to what it was last time.
“We’re all looking forward to it and hopefully we can get a result.”
