Sam Purkiss has been appointed referee for Rovers’ clash with Harrogate Town on January 6.
The London-based official has taken charge of 19 matches this term, with the majority coming in Sky Bet League One and League Two. He has issued 91 yellow cards and eight reds across those games.
This will be his first outing of the season refereeing a Rovers game but he previously handled them on two occasions over the last three seasons.
His most recent game involving Rovers was the 1-0 defeat to Bradford City at the Eco-Power Stadium last season. Of the two matches, Rovers lost both.
Purkiss will be assisted by Steve Durnall and Joe Simpson on Saturday while Declan Bourne has been assigned fourth official duties.
