Grant McCann believes new signing Hakeeb Adelakun will offer fresh threat to Rovers’ attacking arsenal after joining on loan from Lincoln City.
McCann previously signed Adelakun at Hull City and explored the possibility of bringing him to Rovers in the summer.
“I feel like we haven’t got a player like Haks,” he said.”What I mean by that is he’s really clever in terms of the positions he can pick up, he can slip people in, he can score goals himself.
“I think he’s a really good signing for us.
“He was part of that successful team with me at Hull and he fitted right into the group. He’ll do that here as well because of the characters that we have in the changing room and the people working hard. Haks is like that as well.
“He brings a lot of experience with the levels that he’s played at - Championship, League One and League Two.
“He’s done well in the first half of the season at Lincoln so we were surprised when we heard he might be available and we acted really quickly.
“He’ll get fans off their seats with the way that he plays.”
McCann says the 27-year-old will bring plenty of competition across the side due to his versatility.
“He can play across the front line, he can play as a ten or an eight,” he said. “He’s got tremendous versatility in what he can do.
“With the competition we’ve got at the top end of the pitch, he’ll complement them well.
“We’re really pleased with what we’ve got at the top end with the players that we’ve brought in this month adding to what we’ve already got in that area.”
