We are delighted to confirm that James Maxwell has signed a new contract which will come into effect from July 1.
The Scottish full back has committed his future to Rovers until the summer of 2026.
“It’s something that’s happened quite quickly and didn’t need too much thought from me,” the 22-year-old said. “I think everything at the club has aligned over the last few months with supporters, players and management staff and it’s a really exciting time. Everything has come together and the club is on the right trajectory.
“I’m delighted to get it done.”
Maxwell has made 54 appearances for Rovers since joining in the summer of 2022 after leaving Scottish giants Rangers.
Rovers manager Grant McCann said: “I’m delighted we have agreed a new deal with James.
“He is an important part of what we want to do moving forward. His personality is exactly what we want around the changing room and from a football point of view, his athleticism and ability to drive forward with the ball is what we like in our full backs.
“We feel he’s a great age to continue his development with Doncaster Rovers.”
