We are delighted to confirm that captain Richard Wood has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
The 38-year-old centre back has committed his future to the club until the summer of 2025.
“I’ve really enjoyed it this season,” Wood said. “It’s been disappointing for me injury-wise but hopefully I’m through that now and I’m pleased to get something agreed and sorted with the manager.
“I’m just looking forward to keep playing games for this club.
“Ever since I came through the door, people have been great with me. The staff have been great and the players have been really good as well.
“I’m happy to sign on and have another year playing.”
After recovering from injury in the first half of the season, Wood has made 20 appearances for Rovers and played a significant role in the strong form over the last two months.
Manager Grant McCann said: “We are delighted Richard has signed a new one-year deal with the club.
“He has been immense since he came back into the team. His leadership qualities and his ability to organise those around him have been there for all to see.
“He also adds so much experience to our group and I’ve no doubt this will continue to help others around him.”
