'Best is yet to come' for Gibson

27 May 2024

Jordan Gibson believes the best is yet to come from him after joining Rovers.

The winger has signed a two-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months and is looking to take his career to new levels during his time at the Eco-Power Stadium.

“I’ve got quite a bit of experience at 26 but I think there’s a lot more to come,” Gibson said. “I feel like I haven’t really got started yet.

“I’ve got a lot to prove and a lot to give to the club.

“I’m at the stage of my career where I’ve played quite a few games now but I can still go to new levels.

“I got a feel for the club straight away. The feel around the place, the staff I’ve met, it’s a good vibe and I’m feeling fairly confident about this season and hopefully we can do well.

“I’m still relatively young but with good experience. Hopefully I can play as many games as possible, contribute to goals and assists and win games.

Gibson won promotion via the play-offs in his last season in Sky Bet League Two with Carlisle United.

And he is determined to do add another promotion to his CV as soon as possible with Rovers.

“It gives you the desire to do it again,” he said. “When you get a promotion on your CV and you have that feeling, especially at Wembley, you just want to repeat it.

“They’re good memories to have and they will give me a lot of desire to bring it to this club as well.

“The three years at Carlisle were a rollercoaster but I hit double figures for goal contributions in all three seasons.

“I learned a lot. When times get tough, you’ve got to find that mental grit and togetherness as a team.

“The tough times make you stronger and I want to be at the right end of the table this season.”
