Thank you, Tommy Rowe

16 May 2024

Across a total of six years, 267 appearances and 45 goals, Tommy Rowe has made an indelible mark on Doncaster Rovers.

A leader both on and off the pitch, Rowe has been a figurehead during his two spells, bringing undoubted commitment, determination and guidance throughout.

As he departs a club where he has been a tremendous servant, his presence will certainly be missed - as our package of video messages above shows.

Manager Grant McCann said: “I’ve got so much respect for Rowey. I played with him and I’ve managed him twice now.

“It’s massive what he’s done at this football club and his personality and character will be sorely missed around the building.”

Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin said: “We are so proud of all that Tommy has achieved at our club both on and off the field. I’ll let Grant and others talk about him as a footballer but as a person Tommy is up there with anyone I have worked with in my life.

“His values, integrity, empathy for others, work ethic and ability to achieve were appreciated by us all every day. Tommy was proud to be our player ambassador for the community and made a huge difference to the lives of those that his work touched.

“He was integral in challenging others to do better every day and create a culture to inspire others.

“On a personal level, I really can’t thank Tommy enough for his support during his time at Rovers and I hope one day we welcome Tommy back to the club in some form of executive role.

“He will excel in anything he does in life and we wish him luck in his next chapter. Hopefully it is not goodbye forever.”

Tommy has been a proud and passionate supporter of the club’s work across Doncaster his two spells at the club and was this year named the PFA Community Champion.

Club Doncaster Foundation chief executive John Davis said: “Tommy has been a consummate professional in his support for our community work during his spells at Doncaster Rovers FC.

“Tommy has engaged in a number of our programmes, meeting hundreds of fans, always being generous with his time and supportive of our participant journeys.

“On behalf of everyone at Club Doncaster Foundation – we want to thank Tommy for his support and wish him luck in his next challenge.”

Thank you for everything, Tommy.
