A product of the youth Academy, Horton made his league debut against Oxford United last March.
Born in Doncaster, Horton had loan spells at non-league clubs Gainsborough Trinity and Redditch United prior to making his debut.
He started the final four league games of last season. Following his breakthrough, he was rewarded with a new one-year contract in May extending his stay until June 2022.
Following the departure of Danny Amos and Reece James, Horton will be likely competing against the returning Tommy Rowe throughout 2021/22.
The left-footed defender has been deployed at right-back but normally plays on his natural side.
