Having spent four years at Portsmouth Close rejected a new offer to join Rovers on a three-year deal.
Since the Hampshire club achieved promotion to League One in 2017 Close has played a key part scoring 14 goals in 125 games.
Typically playing in central midfield, he made his first team debut at Pompey in 2014 before loan spells at Poole Town and Eastleigh.
After his spell at Eastleigh, he became a fixture in Kenny Jackett’s midfield for Portsmouth.
A creative midfielder who possesses a good shooting range, Close became Richie Wellens’ first summer signing in 2021.
