Ferguson pleased with reaction

15 April 2018

Darren Ferguson was pleased with the reaction his players showed in the 2-1 win over MK Dons in Sky Bet League One.

Rovers trailed at the break after Ike Ugbo's opener, before a John Marquis double in the second-half secured all three points at stadium:mk.

He said: "I thought we were very good in the second-half and found a way to win the game, we were knowhere near before half-time and we needed to change that quickly.

"I was pleased it was only one, we didn't play with any energy and lost our individual battles, but then we changed one or two things and they responded really well.

"The game became very open in the second-half which I was pleased with for the most part, because it meant we could play into space and look to hurt them on the counter attack."

Rovers saw out six minutes of stoppage time to secure the win, and the manager was delighted with their fighting spirit against a team struggling at the wrong end of the table.

He added: "They had to go for it and had to win the game, we couldn't really get out late on but the team put their bodies on the line to make sure we got the win and showed great determination.

"We knew what to expect but whoever we come across are going to have something to play for, I expect a certain level of energy and performance from my players and I saw that in the second-half.

"In the end we couldn't add to the two goals we got but the lads gave it everything, the character they showed was great and we've shown that we've still got the determination to win games at the business end of the season."

Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Bury on Tuesday April 17, you can purchase tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at tickets.clubdoncaster.co.uk
