Wright: seamless transition for Butler

5 March 2021

Joe Wright says it has been a seamless transition for Andy Butler since his appointment as Rovers manager.

Wright has played alongside Butler for the past few years at the heart of the defence, and says he has taken to management well.

He said: “The gaffer has come in and the intensity of training has picked up, the lads are all really enjoying working with him.

“There’s always a change when a new manager comes in but it’s easier when it is someone you’re familiar with.

“The lads had a feel for what he would be like as a manager back in November and he’s carried that on since being appointed.”

Rovers face Plymouth Argyle at the Keepmoat Stadium this weekend, and Wright says the squad are confident of making it back-to-back home wins.

He added: “Plymouth are a good side as we saw when we last played them, the travelling and other factors probably got the better of us in the end.

“If we can perform the way we did in the second-half of that game then we’ve got a good chance but we know they’re dangerous.

“They’ve got Niall Ennis and Conor Grant who I’ve played with before and they both have a lot of quality.”
