James Maxwell insists there has been no magic formula for Rovers’ impressive recent form but believes consistency in team selection has played a big part.
Rovers secured an eighth straight triumph as they swept past Accrington Stanley at the Eco-Power Stadium with Maxwell netting his first goal of the season.
Speaking to the media after the game, he was asked what had changed to spark a rise from 22nd in the league to eighth in the space of just 14 matches.
“I’m not really too sure,” he said. “I think the biggest thing for us is staying consistent and the management staff have done that with their messaging to us.
“I think the obvious thing is that we’ve been able to keep a consistent team and then when boys have needed to come in - like Zain coming with Biggo having to drop out - they’ve done really well.
“It’s been a big thing - the full squad but starting with the same nucleus of the team has been good for us.”
Maxwell was full of praise for the support Rovers received against Accrington and admitted feeling that they had finally made the Eco-Power Stadium a place of strength for the team.
He said: “I think over my time at the club, we’ve not really used the advantage of being at home and it has almost felt like a nice place for opposition teams to come. A nice stadium, a nice atmosphere, nice facilities.
“I think that’s switched. Even at the start of the season I felt that we played better at home but now, the atmosphere was brilliant today.
“It was easy last week against Wrexham because of everything that comes with them but in this one they were fantastic.
“When the second goal went in, that was as loud as I’ve heard it. Getting that home support has been fantastic.
“Even through the hard times, the away support has been fantastic. The ones that follow us away have been brilliant and that atmosphere is coming at home now too.”
