ACADEMY: The Journey Begins

17 April 2014

Rovers youth sides head to the land of the brave for Easter break.

Doncaster Rovers Academy sides have departed for a long week end of football in Cumbernauld near Glasgow.

The under 12’s, under 13’s and under 14’s, who are aiming to make their way in the football world, will take on representatives from clubs such as Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian and Clyde between Friday and Sunday.

“It’s a good test for the lads and a good chance for us to see what they can do while they’re away together,” said youth coach Les Sheldon.

Sheldon is accompanied by Head of Youth Paul Wilson and former Rovers midfielder John Buckley.

“Buckie’s coming with us for the trip to hopefully pass some of his experience on to the lads. He’s a bit of a legend up towards Glasgow after coming through the ranks at Celtic, so it will be good for him to go back,” Sheldon said.

The weekend will also include activities for the youngsters during their time away from home.

We wish the academy players in the respective age groups the best of luck north of the border and will bring you news upon their return.
