Club Doncaster Academy bringing joy to kids across Doncaster with tournament.
The Club Doncaster Academy is bringing some festive cheer to the region this Christmas when it plays host to our 16 team tournament, which will showcase the new state of the art 3G astroturf pitches.A donation of £10 per team will be made towards buying presents for children at Doncaster Royal Infirmary’s Children’s Ward and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice where members of the Rovers first team squad will deliver gifts.
Tom Butterworth, Club Doncaster Academy Co-ordinator, said: “Christmas is the time for giving and we are really looking forward to putting smiles on the faces of children in Doncaster this year.
“We have visited Doncaster Royal Infirmary for a few years now and delivered presents to the young people there and cant wait to go back again this year, along with the new addition of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice as well.
“The new 3G astroturf pitch we have had installed looks fantastic and we can’t wait to show it off at the launch tournament. We think it is great that everyone who enters will know some of their entry fee has gone towards buying a present for a young child this Christmas.”
The 7-a-side tournament, which is open to players aged 16 and over, will consist of a round robin stage with four groups of four teams followed by a Semi Final and Final stage.
Our newly named Alick’s Bar will be open throughout the night serving a range of refreshments, ultimately playing host to the presentation ceremony.
A range of great prizes will be on offer at the event, including the winners scooping a hospitality box for a Doncaster Rovers game between now and the end of the 2015/16 season.
This is just the first in a long line of exciting new developments at the Facility, with a Junior Tournament planned for the New Year and many more activities pencilled in for 2016.
Entry is set at £50 for a squad of 10 people, so just £5 per man for a night of footballing entertainment with the potential to win great prizes.
