Copps delight for Dickov

31 July 2014

Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov is thrilled that midfielder James Coppinger has signed a new contract with the club.

The new deal will see the midfielder remain with Rovers until at least the end of June 2016.

Dickov praised the character and attitude of the midfielder, whose total stay with Rovers will reach at least 12 years.

He said: “Copps has signed and he’s going to be here for the next two years which is great news.

“I never wanted to lose Copps and I don’t think anyone at the club did and James always wanted to stay and we’re delighted because he’s a fantastic signing for lots of reasons.

“Firstly, what he gives us on the pitch – which is most important.

“Two – what he offers us on the training ground and three – what he gives the club as a whole.

“James leads by example in the changing room and on the training pitch. He’s a character you want at the club.”
