Ferguson pre-Coventry

26 November 2015

Gaffer says Rovers have every chance against Sky Blues if they perform to a ‘consistent’ level.

Darren Ferguson has said that every game in League One is winnable and wants his Doncaster side to replicate the performance levels shown in their most recent outing - a 3-0 win over Chesterfield – when they face Coventry on Saturday.

Rovers have now won four games in their last five – on each occasion keeping a clean sheet – ahead of a trip to the Ricoh Arena.

“We’ve now got a game against the team at the top of the table, which will be difficult, but every game is winnable,” said Ferguson.

“It’s a game I’m really looking forward to and the players should too.

“It’s a really good challenge against a team that’s doing well at the moment.

“In this league, as Tony (Mowbray) and Coventry know, if you’re not at it then you’ll get beat and that’s what we’re looking to do; go there and win.”

Ferguson hailed the platform of clean sheets with which Rovers can build from, having also won their last outing on the road.

“Credit to the players, I think the system with three at the back has helped.

“I think we have to focus on what we’ve done well – the performance the other night and at Blackpool, our last away game was good.

“I want to see consistent performances. Consistent things in what we’re doing on and off the ball. I think everyone can see there is that taking shape.

“You want consistent performances, hopefully to the levels of Chesterfield in the second half and Blackpool in the first half. That, as a manager, is all you can ask for. You do need a bit of luck but I think if you get those levels of consistency in your performances, you’ve got every chance.”
