Ferguson Raring To Go

16 October 2015

New gaffer states his intentions ahead of "fresh start".

Darren Ferguson has outlined his clear vision as he takes the reins at Doncaster Rovers.

The 43 year old was unveiled on Friday morning and his proven track record of three promotions on his CV is something he is keen to add to during his stay in South Yorkshire.

“I had a good break and I think I needed it but the timing of this job is perfect,” said Ferguson.

“I’m absolutely raring to go.

“Have I got the tools to work with? Absolutely. That is clear.

“I believe in the group of players that are here. Promotion is and has always been the aim.”

The Scot, who has previous managerial experience with Peterborough United (twice) and Preston North End, hopes to bring an exciting and attractive brand of football to Keepmoat Stadium.

“I play a way of football that is attractive for the fans, that’s very important to them and that's what I expect of my team,” said Ferguson.

“Fans want to be entertained.

“They spend their money, they come to watch us and they want to be entertained. That’s the type of football I want to play.”

The former Manchester United and Wrexham midfielder could not leave without a rallying call to the supporters as he hailed the dawn of a “fresh start” for a club that finds itself currently 20th in the league ahead of Saturday’s visit of Bradford City.

“I’m going to give my absolute all to this club and the supporters,” he said.

“In the past my teams have always played attractive football and that’s very important.

“It’s not just about the football though, fans play a huge part.

“We had Championship football here not long ago and that is the aim again.

“This is a well respected football club.

“The vision is they’ve already got young players coming through which is vital for any football club.

“It was a good process, the interview went well, I met the owners and my vision totally matched the owners. The speculation is now over, the owners have done a brilliant job in the recruitment process and it’s now time for a fresh start!”

Rovers host Bradford City on Saturday at Keepmoat Stadium. Tickets can be bought ONLINE HERE or by calling 01302 762576.
