Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player about new signing’s Curtis Main and Nathan Tyson.
Striker Main has signed a three-year contract with the club and was part of the deal which saw James Husband move in the opposite direction to join Middlesbrough.
Tyson has joined on an initial one-year contract, with the club holding the option to extend this by a further year, after a spell with Championship side Blackpool.
Dickov said: “Obviously James’ move to Middlesbrough going through has allowed us to do a little bit with regards to bringing players in.
“James has gone there, were getting a bit of a fee for him and we’re getting Curtis Main coming in this direction, which I’m pleased with because he’s a player with a lot of potential, I’ve watched him a lot and enquired about him a lot too. People might look at his games record, but they’ve e been as a substitute but what he needs to do is come here and make a proper name for himself and I’m delighted to have him.
“He’s big, strong and quick. The one thing you’ll get off him is 110% every game and he gives us a different option. There’s a lot of goals in him and he’s very hungry and very focussed and he’s the type of player we want to bring in.
“Nathan’s been with us most of pre-season and his track record in his earlier years was good and he’s potentially a top player. Over the last few years things haven’t quite worked out for him for a number of reasons but he’s come in and made a good impression.
“He’s a proper athlete, quick and has a lot of know-how for how to play upfront and I think he’ll be a real asset for us.
“We look at players and get to know them as people and Nathan and Curtis, along with Theo, will be real assets for the division we’re going in to.
“He’s been top class since he’s come in, his attitude as well and he’s integrated with the boys really well and he’s a humble guy. Against Huddersfield in Portugal he was outstanding and he did really well against Grimsby. Then on Sunday against Sheffield Wednesday he gave Championship defenders a lot of problems.
“What we’re trying to do with Alex and Curtis is to use Nathan’s – and Theo’s – experience to bring them along too.”
