Marosi Made Up with Win

2 September 2015

Young 'keeper happy with shootout heroics in JPT round 1.

Penalty hero Marko Marosi remained grounded after making the save which saw Doncaster Rovers overcome Burton Albion 5-3 on spot kicks.

The Slovakian was a substitute for German stopper Thorsten Stuckmann who the youngster hailed as a huge influence – both literally and metaphorically.

“I look up to him a lot,” said the 21 year old.

“He wished me the best of luck; I was speaking to Gezza (Paul Gerrard) too but Stucky is massive and its hard to beat him.

“Our penalties were quite well taken, I don’t know if its luck but a save is a save.

Marosi’s opportunities in a Doncaster shirt have been limited by the arrival, and subsequent form ,of the excellent Stuckmann, however the former Wigan stopper is prepared to bide his time.

“In terms of preparation we got told of the squad before the game and I wasn’t expecting to come on, even though you should as anything can happen in football,” he said.

“I had 15 minutes to warm up and you’ve got to go in and get the tempo and concentrate. The clean sheet, especially, is the most important thing.

“When the time’s right, it will come so I have to stay positive about it. I keep telling myself that I’ll get on and I have to take my chance.”
