Packed Day of Activities at KMS Saturday

9 July 2013

Doncaster residents are being treated to a full day of activities at the Keepmoat Stadium and Lakeside complex this Saturday (13th July)

League 1 Champions Doncaster Rovers will take part in their first home friendly game of the season, as Motherwell visit Keepmoat Stadium for the first time.

The fixture kicks off at 3pm and tickets for the match have been priced at £10 per adults, £5 concessions and £1 for children Under 12.

The match gives fans chance to witness the major refurbishments that have been taking place at Keepmoat Stadium over the summer, as stadium catering partners The Lindley Group launch their new food and drink offering to fans.

Prior to the match, members of Doncaster Rovers Community Sports and Education Foundation will be competing in the annual Dragon Boat challenge all in the name of charity!

The Rovers Foundation will be entering a team of up to 10 people who will all be paddling a 30 foot boat across the Lake at Lakeside with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course.

Dragon Boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today - as well as lots of fun!

The chosen charity for this year's event is Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). The charity works to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to young sudden cardiac death and sudden death syndrome.

CRY's mission is to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities.

Liam Scully, Chief Executive of Doncaster Rovers Community Sports and Education Foundation said: "We are a very community focussed club and are looking forward to taking part in the Dragon Boat challenge.

"Working in the football world we are quite competitive and I am sure that the team are hoping to finish top of the league!

"The event is raising money for a fantastic cause and I hope that people come down to watch the event and support the teams and the charity."

The Dragon Boat event is open to all and crews are expected to battle it out over the 200m course, watched by crowds of spectators, to be crowned champions on the day.

If you can't find your 'sea legs' then do not worry, there is still plenty for you to experience at this fun filled family event.

Spectators will be treated to the thrill of the race as teams compete against each other, a spectacular display from a Chinese Lion Dancers, Fun fair rides, Craft and charity stalls as well as themed food stalls.
