ROVERS LEGEND OFF TO THE WORLD CUP

27 May 2015

Fans favourite flying the flag for England...and DRFC.

Former Rovers Hero and current Club Doncaster NCS Co-ordinator, Tim Ryan is on his way to Thailand today to represent England at the Seniors World Cup.

Tim along with three other former Rovers players, Jason Price, Dean Barrick and Andy Warrington will head for Phuket to take part in the annual tournament.

The tournament is in its 10th year and includes teams from Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Scotland and Thailand and will take place between 1st and 6th June. England are the current holders, so Tim and his team have a lot to live up to.

Ryan said: “It’s such a great opportunity for me to represent my country.

“This trip is giving me the opportunity to not only promote the English game but also Doncaster Rovers.

“We will be coaching local underprivileged kids whilst we are out there and with this I have to thank the club for providing me with some replica shirts and other bits of kit for me to give to them. I can’t wait to get started.

“I’d also like to thank Alex Clasper of the Key Kars Workshop Limited in Thorne, because without his sponsorship this trip would not have been possible.”

Tim currently combines his playing (for the Northern Premier League side Buxton) with working as NSC coordinator at the Club Doncaster Foundation and the foundation currently has limited places available on their summer and autumn programmes.

Doncaster Rovers would like to wish all the best in the tournament and we will be following his progress throughout.

Keep checking the official site and @drfc_official for updates on Tim’s progress.
