Supporters Board Profiles

A little bit about who is on the DRFC Supporters Board and why.

Name: Lee Croft
Age: 24
Matchday Seat: Black Bank, South Stand
Favourite Rovers game: Probably be the 1-1 draw with Rochdale at Spotland in 2004 - whilst it doesn't sound as appealing as other fixtures the scenes when ‘Brighty’ (Mark Albrighton) scored the equaliser in injury time and the eruption of the 2000 Rovers fans there that night has never quite left my memory. Whenever we're a goal behind and the clock is running down, I always get flashbacks to that game and keep the belief that it's never too late.
Reasons behind sitting on the Supporters Board: I was asked by the club to sit on the Supporters Board as Chair of the Doncaster Rovers Supporters Group; our ultimate aim is to improve both the experience of Rovers fans and the dialogue between the club and the Supporters. I feel that the Supporters Board helps us to achieve both and the initial meetings so far have been very encouraging. It's clear that everyone involved (both fans and club staff) share the same common goal; to make things better!

Name: Paul Mayfield
Age: 55
Matchday Seat: Press Box, West Stand
Favourite Rovers game: Beating Leeds United 1-0 at Wembley while I was commentating for local radio on what I knew would be my last broadcast. To go down there where everyone expected us to lose and we were just the “pub team having a laugh” but the football we played was majestic, we got a goal, the bragging rights and to see us at Wembley is every football fans dream – the day was brilliant.
Reasons behind sitting on the Supporters Board: We felt that the Supporters Club, rather than just running travel to games, should have an impact on the club and could air the views of the supporters to the board and hopefully make changes where changes are needed.

Name: Len South
Age: 62
Matchday Seat: West Stand
Favourite Rovers game: Beating Aston Villa 3-0 in the League Cup – it was a tremendous game where we outclassed a Premier League side at a packed Belle Vue.
Reasons behind sitting on the Supporters Board: To hopefully have a valued input to the club about the thoughts of supporters and offer them representation.

Name: Martin O’Hara
Age: 61
Matchday Seat: East Stand
Favourite Rovers game: Beating Dagenham and Redbridge 3-2 on a Golden Goal at Stoke. Just had so much emotion attached to it, and we never thought it would happen.
Reasons behind sitting on the Supporters Board: After all the time and effort that I’ve put in over the years I’m really thankful that at last clubs are embracing the opportunity to really  meet with their supporters and tackle serious issues. It can only be a positive step, and one that fans can finally show that they can add value to the match day experience and no longer be seen as a negative. DRFC have shown that they are happy to embrace this opportunity and contribute fully to the idea that we can all work together. It’s our responsibility to show them that it’s the right decision, that we can achieve great things together for all DRFC supporters.
